Whether this is your first visit to Tacoma Musical Playhouse or you are a long-time member of the TMP family, we want to ensure that you enjoy every moment of your experience with us. If you have any questions about our accommodations or services, please call 253.565.6867 or e-mail the Box Office directly.

Accessibility

Tacoma Musical Playhouse lobby and restrooms are fully wheelchair accessible. There are no stairs that prevent access to facilities within our building for a performance. TMP offers limited wheelchair seating in rows P and Q near the back, house-right entrance (second door in lower lobby) into the auditorium. Advance reservations are required to secure seating in this area. Since there is limited space it may be sold-out at any performance. Please contact the box office after you have made reservations. Please let us know what your requirements are for the section.

Parking

Free parking is available at Tacoma Musical Playhouse. Temporarily the Park-n-Ride is closed for the months of February and March. Parking on Sunday’s and evenings is available in the library parking lot. We highly recommend carpooling as much as possible to all performances. TMP is fortunate to have plenty of parking available across the street in the Park-n-Ride lot. Use of this lot is FREE for patrons and will not interrupt the parking for our neighbors on the residential side streets. There are two, lit crosswalks to facilitate the safe crossing of 6th Avenue. Street Parking is available (Read the Street Signs). Behind the Tacoma Musical Playhouse Building. Handicapped Parking is located on the west side of the building (S. MacArthur St side).

Cameras & Recorders

The use of any audio and/or visual recording device is strictly prohibited inside the theater. Cast members will always be available in the lobby for photographs after each performance.

Cell phones, pagers & watches

Please turn off cell phones, pagers and watch alarms before the performance begins.

Children

TMP & TMP Family Theater enjoy presenting many options for family entertainment. All children attending a production require a purchased ticket, even if the situation is such that the child spends the majority of the performance in a lap. Special pricing is available for children for all productions, however, parents are strongly encouraged to be sensible when determining the appropriateness of the subject material for their child, as well as the ability of the child to endure being seated in the theater for the length of the production. (The inability of a small child to sit in the theater for several hours can significantly impact the experience of the other patrons inside the auditorium.) TMP productions are generally suitable for ages 6 and above, however, some shows deal with mature themes and may not be appropriate for all children. TMP firmly believes that it is the parent’s responsibility to make any determination regarding the appropriateness of the subject material or physical abilities of their own child. TMP provides an interactive Behind the Curtain! at TMP preview presentations to assist parents in informing themselves about an upcoming production. Parental Guidelines are provided online for some TMP productions, as well. Ultimately TMP welcomes children ages 4 and older. Children under 4 will not be admitted. Booster seats are not available.

Emergency Contact

It is a good idea to leave the following information with your sitter or service, so we can quickly locate you in the event of an emergency:

  • TMP phone number 253-565-6867
  • Your seat location, row and seat number

Food & Drinks

Refreshments are available for purchase before the show and during intermission from our concessions counter and bar. Food and open (uncapped) drinks are permitted inside the auditorium during the performance. Snacks, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase before performance and during intermission. Drinks may be pre-ordered for intermission. Candy and beverages purchased at the lobby concession stand may be brought into the theater. Beverages must be in a bottle with a cap or a lidded cup. We discourage outside food and beverages. Should you spill a drink in the theater, please notify an usher so we may help to clean it up if possible.

Late Seating Policy

Patrons arriving late will be seated at the first suitable pause in the performance in the least disruptive location. Seating time and location is solely at the discretion of the House Managers. You might not be seated in your original seats if you arrive late. In the event of a no-show or late arrival of a patron, TMP reserves the right to re-sell a seat to another patron waiting on stand-by.

Lost & Found

To inquire about a lost item, please call 253.565.6867, Monday–Friday, 10 am–6 pm, or e-mail the Box Office. Please include your name, daytime phone number, seat location, performance date and a description of the item. Lost & Found items are stored for three months, and then donated to charity.

Patron Considerations

Please remember to limit the use of fragrances, to refrain from talking or singing during the show, and for parents, to be cognizant of your child’s ability to sit through a show without taking away from the experience of your fellow patrons.  If you bring flowers to present to an actor after the show, please hand them to the box office personnel. They will be placed on the bar after the show. Many of our patrons have allergies and this also makes your enjoyment of the show easier.

Ushers

If you experience any discomfort during a performance, an usher or our House Managers will be glad to assist you.

Weather

All performances will take place as scheduled, regardless of weather conditions. Performances may only be cancelled in the event of a complete power outage.
