JOB TITLE: Marketing Intern
DEPARTMENT: Marketing
REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing
STATUS: Up to 20 hours per week/For Class Credit or Work Study

 


 

Overview

 

Tacoma Musical Playhouse is a National Award-Winning, non-profit community theater company that produces musical theater exclusively. Musical theater is the highest attended art form in the United States. Currently in our 24th season, we are located at, 7116 Sixth Avenue, Tacoma, 98406.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Marketing Intern will be responsible for carrying out a variety of ongoing tasks and assist with special projects as needed. Projects will be assigned according to his/her educational experience.

 

• Draft press releases along with images and send out events in a timely manner
• Look for new press opportunities
• Update web and community calendars and assist with social media and blog posts
• Assist with production of miscellaneous marketing materials
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Marketing and Communications department and the
Tacoma Musical Playhouse

 

Minimum qualifications

 

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Familiar with a wide array of software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer
Familiarity with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, and HTML language also desirable.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work in a faced paced environment with changing priorities

 

Educational Benefits

 

The Marketing Intern will receive an overview of the way a professional Marketing Department works in a medium-sized, non-profit arts organization. The department’s areas of responsibility cover marketing, advertising, public relations, community outreach, communications (including the website, blog, social media and electronic newsletters), and special promotions and events. The intern will be involved in department meetings where overview of tasks, time line and strategy, will be discussed.

We are the largest Community Theater in the Pacific Northwest currently in our 24th season; we are located, in Tacoma at 7116 Sixth Avenue.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
The Tacoma Musical Playhouse has an immediate internship opening for a Web producer to manage our Word Press web site, e-mail marketing, online ticketing and any other fundraising efforts. Working at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse will give you a glimpse of working in an entertainment environment.
 
• Manage all interactive initiatives for the organization
• Testing for quality control
• Online ticket sales initiatives
• E-marketing initiatives
• Online advertising consultation
• Work closely with the Marketing Director to develop strategies for the organizations online, e-mail and other interactive strategies
• Help with graphic design materials to implement content, strategies and brand cohesiveness
